CWC Executive Director Kristin Urbach Leads Distinguished Panel at Global Transmission Report U.S. Conference
Leaders of the 8th Annual Global Transmission Report Offshore Wind Transmission US Conference recruited Connecticut Wind Collaborative Executive Director Kristin Urbach to lead the Supply Chain Panel at the September event in New York City.
Kristin joined White House-level policy leaders, sustainable energy executives, and other industry leaders for the two-day conference, which provided a platform to discuss strategies, technologies, and solutions for developing the transmission infrastructure necessary to integrate the envisioned offshore wind capacity in the US.
Kristin led Debra Phillips of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, Derek Stilwell of GE Vernova, and Melissa Román Burch of the New York City Economic Development Corporation in a rich discussion that explored the evolving challenges and opportunities in offshore wind supply chains.
Specifically, the panelists shared their insights about the future of leases and solicitations as the market transitions to floating solutions, the importance of standardizing electrical components and ensuring supply chain resilience, and localizing the supply chain with a workforce prepared for the demands of offshore wind.
“Kristin’s invitation to speak at Offshore Wind Transmission US is another indication of the experience and collaboration she brings to this new industry in general and Connecticut’s role at the forefront specifically,” said Paul Lavoie, Chairman of the Connecticut Wind Collaborative Board of Directors and Connecticut’s Chief Manufacturing Officer.
“I was honored to be asked to facilitate such an important discussion highlighting topics essential to propelling the U.S. offshore wind industry,” Kristin said. “The insights shared by this panel and others will take the renewable energy industry to the next level.”
