Australian delegation briefs Collaborative, Oceantic Network on abundant opportunities
Executive Director Kristin Urbach was invited to participate with Oceantic Network staff in a briefing hosted by Global Victoria, the Australian government’s trade facilitation and promotions agency.
The briefing, at the end of July in Virginia, provided key insights about the emerging Australian offshore wind industry and opportunities for U.S. businesses to support the Australian supply chain. Australia is not requiring that materials be sourced locally, so opportunities abound! Also, it was made clear that workforce training will be in demand, as there will be local employment requirements.
The state of Victoria alone has a goal of 4 GW of offshore wind energy by 2035 and anticipates construction of the first projects within the next 5 years.
Stakeholders interested in expanding into the global offshore wind supply chain should contact Oceantic Network and consider joining one of its Global Gateway delegation trips to valuable industry conferences.
This year’s trips include WindEnergy Hamburg in September, Floating Offshore Scotland in October, and Brazil WindPower, also in October.
