‘Offshore Wind Outing’ networking  series premieres with industry, policy leaders

Liz Burdock, President and CEO of Oceantic Network, the industry leader in efforts to accelerate the transition to clean energy and create economic opportunities in the sector, was the featured speaker at the Connecticut Wind Collaborative’s first ‘Offshore Wind Outing’ in May.

This was the kickoff to what will be a series of networking events and was hosted by Executive Director Kristin Urbach and Board member Andrew Lavigne in downtown New London immediately after attendees disembarked from the South Fork Wind tour.

During her comments, Liz reinforced the importance of Connecticut establishing the Wind Collaborative and highlighted the win of landing Kristin as executive director, given her years of experience in an industry still getting established.

Liz, a member of the Collaborative Board, also noted that Connecticut and the broader region are now well-positioned to continue leading the nation’s mission of expanding clean, domestic, sustainable energy from offshore wind. The Wind Collaborative is driving that expansion by connecting stakeholders and fostering communication and collaboration for the benefit of all, she said.

“It was exciting to see all these offshore wind leaders in one place, sharing information and ideas,” Kristin said. “I look forward to our ‘Outings’ serving as much-anticipated events that continue to draw stakeholders from across the region and beyond.”

Several industry, policy, and municipal leaders who attended the event also expressed excitement for future opportunities in this series. Those interested in co-hosting an Outing with the Collaborative are urged to contact Kristin at [email protected]
