Connecticut in the Spotlight at Oceantic Network’s IPF 2025

Connecticut was well represented at Oceantic Network’s IPF 2025 in Virginia Beach in April, the largest marine renewable energy conference in the Americas.

Connecticut Wind Collaborative Executive Director Kristin Urbach was invited to share findings from the Collaborative’s Connecticut Offshore Wind Supply Chain Assessment: Opportunities and Collaborative Efforts in the Northeast, during a “Market Update” panel entitled Opportunities and Collaborative Efforts in the Northeast. Kristin was joined on the panel by moderator John Begala of The Pew Charitable Trusts, and Emma Martin of Xodus.

The CWC commissioned Xodus to produce the report and CWC partnered with The Pew Charitable Trusts, which provided technical assistance.

The study, published just one week prior to IPF, drew intense interest during the conference as a bright spot for recommending actionable steps industry leaders can take to adapt to a changing market and regulatory environment.

Connecticut was also in the spotlight during the presentation of the Ventus Awards, the industry’s “highest level of professional recognition, celebrating the trailblazing people, companies, organizations, and work worldwide ushering in the global adoption of offshore wind and other ocean renewables.”

Sea Services North America, of New London, was awarded the ‘Program of the Year in  Health, Safety & Environment’ and was the only participant to earn two nominations. Sea Services Founder and Fleet Manager Gary Yerman was joined by President and CEO Gordon Videll, a CWC Board member, in accepting the award. Sea Services is a commercial fishermen’s co-op providing scout and safety services to developers.

Connecticut had a significant delegation at IPF 2025. In addition to Sea Services, Kristin was joined by Wind Collaborative Board Chair Paul Lavoie, also Connecticut’s Chief Manufacturing Officer; Andrew Lavigne, Connecticut’s Clean Energy Program Manager and CWC Board Vice Chair; Paul Whitescarver, Executive Director of the Southeastern CT Enterprise Region and CWC Board Secretary; Maria Hanna, President and CEO of Survival Systems and CWC Board member, and representatives from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, AdvanceCT, Connecticut Port Authority, and ThayerMahan.

We wish to extend our Congratulations to Oceantic Network President and CEO Liz Burdock and her team for another successful IPF! Looking forward to IPF 2026 in New York!
